Ohui Agbenyega Allotey worked at the Ghana Book Development Council, Ministry of Education from 1996 and retired as a Principal Book Development Officer in 2021.
Her career in publishing started in 1982 as an Editor at the Publishing Division, Ghana Publishing Corporation, a publishing company set up by the government after independence to promote the production of indigenous books for Ghanaian schools and the general public.
She is a freelance Editor in her spare time. Even though she edits all categories of manuscripts – academic, fiction, non-fiction, young adult and children’s books – she loves working on children’s books and novels.
She is a member of The Ghana Association of Writers (GAW) where she is a resource person on editorial issues, she was also the Vice President of GAW for a brief period. She is the Secretary of the Children’s Literature Foundation (CLiF); an Executive Member of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) Ghana; a member of the Ghana Association of Book Editors (GABE); the Board Secretary of BIBLIONEF Ghana, an NGO, which sets up libraries in deprived communities, trains people in library management and promotes reading. Mrs. Allotey was an assessor for the National Council for Curriculum Assessment (NaCCA) of the Ministry of Education.
She is a graduate who majored in English and the Study of Religions (1982) and also has an MA in Information Studies (2013), from the University of Ghana, Legon
